Hi everyone! My name is Chee. I am from Singapore. Singapore is a multiracial country comprising people from many races (namely Chinese, Malay, Indian, and European). English is a shared language that provides a common ground for communication and understanding people of different races. It is also the main language used in our business environment and daily communication via media. Singaporeans start learning English at a very young age – as early as kindergarten. English is taught as a subject and used as the main teaching language in schools and colleges. All subjects are taught in English except for our mother tongue (which could be Mandarin, Malay, or Tamil).
