I am Partha Protim Hazarika from India. At present, I am a PhD student in Japan. In India, about 80% of schools teach in regional languages, and English is taught as a subject from the 5th grade onwards. In the other schools, English is used to teach all subjects. In our country English is treated as the second language. Most of the higher education is conducted in English. The knowledge of English is a must when you study science, engineering and medicine in India. Don’t hesitate to speak in English. Regular practice is essential to be good English speakers.
